Hi, my name is Kristin Visconti and I am the Shutterbug. I have been interested in photography for as long as I can remember. I got my start working with cameras in my childhood. I was always playing with Daddy’s cameras. I am a third generation photography buff following in the footsteps of my father and grandfather. You will notice that many of my children and infant portraits are done in an Anne Geddes style, as I just admire her work with the utmost awe.
While I was in high school I was actively involved in the photography club, in which I participated in photographing and editing the annual school slide shows. In college, I took many photography and computer classes to further expand my knowledge and talents. As an adult I continued my love for the art and ventured into it professionally.
When I moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1999 I was given the opportunity to express my love of weddings in an artistic way. I spent several years as a wedding coordinator and more importantly a wedding photographer for a prominent wedding chapel. The amazing beauty of Lake Tahoe afforded me many opportunities to learn and explore the art of outdoor scenic portraiture. After leaving Tahoe, I continued reaching for my dreams by earning my Photography Diploma while concurrently managing and working as a child and family photographer for a popular national studio. During this time, my husband and I expanded our own family with the birth of our first daughter, the subject of many of my photographs seen on this website.
I started Shutterbug’s "Mobile" Photography in 2002 as a unique idea allowing me to stay at home with my daughter while doing what I love, taking pictures. I knew from my own experience how difficult it was to pack up everything, and lug it down to a photography studio for my daughters monthly portraits, and I thought how easy it would be if the studio came to me. Then I said, “Well why not? Why couldn’t the studio come to me?” and thus Shutterbug's "Mobile" Photography was created. With the birth of my second daughter, I find that staying at home with my children is the most rewarding experience ever. I thoroughly enjoy the flexibility of being a stay-at-home mom AND a professional business woman.
I have earned my AA degree, and attended CSU,Chico for three years. I am credentialed by The Professional Career Development Institute, earning their prestigious School of Photography Diploma, I am also licensed by the State of California, and Shasta County.
Other than being a mommy, wife, and business owner, I currently hold a board position on the Redding Business Associates Board of Directors , work part time for Risen King Community Church, and am a troop leader for Girl Scouts of America. (Regrettably with all my other activities, this year I had to register as an inactive member in Professional Photographers of The North Valley.)
With all that said, I'd like to leave you with just one more thought; I’ve drawn from my Wedding, Studio and Parental experiences and combined them in one exceptional photographic service just for you!
Warmest wishes,
Kristin Visconti
