How do I book an event/schedule a session?
You contact us to schedule your event and fill out a contract, at that time 50% of your booked Session/Package cost is due to solidify your booking. The 50% deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE. 30 days before your event day your balance of services and products ordered to date, is due IN FULL. Come event day, I travel to you, anywhere in Northern California. I either set up a studio in your home (or event location) , or use Mother Nature’s Studio. Depending on which viewing method you choose, your proofs are then either uploaded to our web site, where you have 30 days to view and order your prints, albums, frames and many other products on-line, or we will set up an in-person viewing session where you may bring all you family, and at that time order your prints, albums, frames and pay via personal check or cash. Depending on what your order consists of, your prints will be mailed to you with in 3 - 6 weeks.

Where are you located?

I run my studio from my home office in Palo Cedro, and quite frankly from my blackberry. ;-)   I am generally reachable on my cell phone at 530-355-4436 or via e-mail at kristin@shutterbugsmobilephotography.com.  All of my consultations and proofing appointments are done casually over a cup of coffee at a local coffee shop, or if you prefer in your home.   If you live outside the Redding area, we can arrange an alternative meeting location that is convenient for both parties.

What form of payment do you accept?

I preferred personal check or cash payments. I will accept money orders, cashiers checks, and business-to-business trade. Also I can accept credit card payments via www.PayPal.com sent to kristin@shutterbugsmobilephotography.com. A 3% transaction fee will be added to all credit card payments.

What is the difference between a Wedding Session and a Wedding Package?
The difference between a Wedding Session and a Wedding Package is the packages are all inclusive and Sessions are exclusive. With a Package, you pay one set fee in full before your event date. The Packages include at least the photographers time, the proofs, and an album. Sessions can be thought of like a sitting fee. The $100 per hour fee is paid before your event date, then AFTER the event, you choose your merchandise and pay at that time.

Why mobile, why not a store-front studio?
I believes that we are most comfortable in our own element. This is especially true for our children. If you want truly real portraits, that capture your child’s real personality, then a relaxed familiar environment is the only way to do that. It also relieves the hassle of getting all packed up for lengthy studio shoot. I also have a mobile beauty consultant available for your "make-over" at your location prior to your shoot. (Cost is additional.)

How long before I can view my family/senior/baby portraits either on-line or in person?
It takes about 10 business days, but could be sooner so check daily.

I don't remember my username and/or password?
Call me, at any "reasonable" hour, and I will be happy to remind you.

What if I want to order prints after my 30-day deadline?
Simply contact us, and we can order the prints for you, or you can choose to extend your online album for an additional fee of $30.00

Can my family and friends order too?
Yes, your portraits will be displayed on your personalized web page for your secure viewing and ordering, and will be accessible to anyone else to whom you give your personalized username and password to.

Are traditional paper proofs available to purchase?
If you've booked a Wedding Package, then your full set of proofs is included in your package.  If you have an ala-carte wedding session or any type of non-wedding session you must originally chose in-person viewing (as opposed to on-line viewing), AND only after your complete minimum order of at least $500 has been placed. You may not purchase only proofs. The cost is $50 per Session hour. So if you have the Rose Wedding Session at 5 hours, your proofs would cost $250.00. Please note that proofs hold the same copyright laws as prints, and it is illegal to make copies of the proofs.

Are DVD albums available?
Yes! I am excited to provide DVD's, presented in a "slide-show style", put to music for our clients so they may show off their proofs from their session for years to come. When inserted into any home computer with Internet Explorer (does not require connection to the internet) or in most DVD players, it plays a photo show of your proofs, with title page and music. (Because of different monitor sizes, the photographs can appear fuzzy, stretched or skewed when on larger and wide format screens.) You may print your low resolution proofs from the disk, but because of the low resolution scan, they too will appear fuzzy, stretched or skewed, when printed. Remember the disk is sold for the purpose of viewing your proofs on your home computer or DVD player, not for printing photographs. Please refer to my copyright policy for more information.

Can my portraits be re-touched?
Yes, digital editing, retouching and the addition of many special effects is always an option.  Standard retouching on enlargements is standard, and always free. I want you to look your best in every portrait you receive! However for extensive work, or any digital alterations additional charges will apply.

Can I purchase my negatives?
Yes, but only after a $1500.00 minimum order has been met. After that, negatives will be sold at $100 per hour of photography. (Example, you had the Daisy Wedding Session, for three hours of photography, your negatives would cost you $300.00)

What should I have ready for my portraits?
Many suggestions are available on the graduates page and the children's page. Check it out!

What is your travel fee?

I am located in Redding California, and will travel anywhere within a 60 mile radius (one hour) from Redding, with no charge. (So think Mt. Shasta to Chico) Anything over the one hour, I charge $0.50/mile to and from your event. To accurately figure this charge, I will use www.mapquest.com to input my address and your event location address, then figure the charge accordingly. There is also a minimum booking requirement of the Gardenia Session or the Iris Wedding Package for events outside my regular travel area.

I chose paper proofs, when and how will I be able to view them (wedding only)?
Paper proofs will be ready with in four weeks after your wedding. You call me when you return from you honeymoon to arrange an in-person viewing session. At the viewing session you will be presented with a complete set of 4x6 copyrighted proofs. You will then choose and pay for your Album, Folio, ala carte print order, etc.

I chose on-line proofing, when and how do I view them?
On-line proofs will be ready to view approximately 4 weeks after your Session. I will e-mail you a personalized username and password that you will need to access your on-line album. You, (and whom ever you share your username and password with) may view and order your ala carte prints directly from the web-site.

How many pictures do you take?
I take on average 100 frames per hour at a wedding. Sometimes more, sometimes less. So if you had the Gardenia Wedding Session for 7 hours, you will have approximately 700 proofs to view. For portrait session the average is about 50.

I know I want some sort of album, what are my options?
I offer a wide variety of albums to choose from, from the small parent albums to the traditional leather albums, and even ones with embossed brushed metal covers, I have it all! And yes, that included the newest style, coffeetable albums, also known as Digital Flushmount Albums. Please visit my albums page or Log onto www.artleather.com to view their wide selections.

How long will it take to get my wedding album?

Because of the personalized nature of wedding albums, (and the one-woman nature of my business), albums can take up to 6 months from the date they are ordered to be delivered to you, (as opposed to six months from the wedding date).  Some albums are quick and will be ready with in a few weeks, some more extensive albums will take the full six months. Also, please remember the fall is an especially busy time for album design and delivery because EVERY wedding couple who was married that spring and summer is expecting their album before the Holidays, this can cause a large back up on albums all ordered at the same time. Please be assured that I understand that urgency and will always do my very best to deliver albums as quick as I possibly can.

I chose on-line proofing and want an album, how do I order it?

Because of the personalized nature of albums, they can not be ordered through the web-site. You will need to contact me via phone, or in person to place the order (rather than on-line).

My parents want to order pictures, how do they go about it?

Preferably, they would accompany you to your viewing session, and place their order then. However I realize they are not always available for this. So, most couples, place their order, purchase their proofs and take the proofs home. Then the parents call or fax in their order at a later time. If you have on-line proofing, you simply give them your username and password, and they log-on and place their order directly on the web-site.

I want to make copies of my pictures, may I do so?
No! Shutterbug’s is a professional studio, and so all prints are protected under federal copyright laws. If you would like a written copy of the law, I will be happy to provided one. The ONLY way to make copies is to purchase your negatives which may be done, after spending $1500 in merchandise. At that time negatives are sold at the cost of $100 per Session hour.
